Health Insurance For Children and Teens

Walking the days of our lives involves increasing awareness for Adult Health Insurance, thus the surging demands for it at present. But as time traverse, now, there is also a markable increase in the demand for health insurance for Children. Perceived increases in the incidents of childhood diseases have caused many parents to seek coverage for their children.
In parallel, the state of New York offers coverage for children below the age of 19 (nineteen). This is through a program called Child Health Plus, the latter having two parts: Child Health Plus A and Child Health plus B. In Child Health Plus A, the health insurance program provides complete coverage for all the child’s health care needs while in the case of Child Health Plus B, the child should be BELOW the age of 19 (nineteen), and not eligible for Child Health Plus A, due to their family’s income and/or immigration status. Under this part, families are not obligated to pay but in some instances, they may be asked to a fairly small monthly premium, the amount of which, will depend on the family’s monthly income.
Despite the difference in the premium that is paid by those who would avail themselves of the Child Health Plus , both do provide children and teens with a wide range of medical services. However, for those under Child Health Plus B, some medical services are obviously not provided. In perspective, medical services that may be covered for both packages include primary care, hospitalization, emergency care, prescription drugs, vaccination, dental, vision, lab tests, some mental health services.
In order to qualify, the child must be a resident of the state of New York, and should be less than 19 (nineteen) years of age, for eligibility of any of those two parts. Children whose families are earning up to 400 (four hundred) percent of the federal poverty level, can be eligible to sign up for free or for a low cost coverage for either part of Child Health Plus. Given that all these requirements are met, families must then select a health plan for their children. A visit to the health plan’s network of doctors, health centers and hospitals comes next. Children under managed care will be provided with a Medicaid card and an insurance card coming from their health plan. This Medicaid card must be kept, for this is required in obtaining the services.
